Restaurant Smutje in Norden

Super nice staff, nice rooms, centrally located but quiet. I would be happy to come back.

We urgently needed a hotel in the north and found a perfectly furnished and very nice holiday apartment at Smutje. The standard of cleanliness was very high, the friendliness and professionalism of the staff were also very, very good. The owners manage to balance friendliness and professionalism very well. We will definitely be back.

Food was ok. The greeting could have been more friendly. Would recommend it anyway!

The hotel room is okay, only the door 🚪 is very bad to close to which there is a huge slot below where you can look through Restaurant is also ok the salad is really great! I ordered a steak with crabs. Crabs are huge, but you have to ring them yourself and then my hands were Very greasy and couldn't cut the steak badly with greasy hands. Crabs were very tasty (oh yes, the "WLAN" is very bad)

We stopped here for the second time and ate fantastic !! Ambience in the restaurant was very nice and very good service. Always my pleasure.

This small, owner-run city hotel, located in a side street of the pedestrian zone, is highly recommended. The rooms are spacious and modernly furnished. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Dogs can be brought along. I especially liked the regional cuisine with a modern touch (North Sea Bruschetta). All in all, highly recommended for a short break.

We have already eaten in the restaurant several times. The dishes were always very well prepared and delicious - whether fish or meat. We have only had positive experiences with operation and service. The prices are absolutely fair for what you get on offer.

GREAT Hotel. The staff are very friendly and warm. Hygiene measures are implemented great. And yet you feel completely at ease and we were able to enjoy the time there.

Good service, fast service, well-stocked menu. The food was very tasty and extensive. Prices were ok. Corona rules were followed well. I can only recommend it!

My wife discovered the “Stadthotel Restaurant Smutje” by chance: I was completely annoyed because we were on a bike tour and I had a flat tire on my rear wheel again (why always me?). After a successful repair, we were spontaneously in the "Smutje" and immediately enthusiastic: small tables along the hotel, on a side path in the city center, in a nice shade. The staff was very friendly and accommodating and we can only recommend the Brandmeester plate, which we both had. All in all, a great opportunity to briefly escape from everyday life and enjoy life.

The food was really delicious (one of the best I've been to so far). Nice atmosphere, enough space also for strollers. Staff friendly, just really good. When we are back at the North Sea we will definitely come back 😄

Because wg. Corona broke our vacation at short notice, we were very happy to have found this beautiful hotel in the north on the North Sea coast! After this vacation I can definitely recommend the Smutje and would have chosen it from everyone else, if possible! Everyone is friendly, the breakfast encourages full feed and it is comfortably furnished in a Nordic way. The room was clean and a good size for 5 nights. We'll test the food in the restaurant next time, but the DockNo.8 bar is awesome. The outdoor area is very well maintained, great with parking. The location in the north is very central in the pedestrian zone with many shops. (Tip: there are watt shoes directly opposite at Intersport) The location to the islands of Norderney and Juist (also accessible by plane) is ideal! Borkum is also super possible. North generally has a lot to offer! The price was a bit high, but with breakfast, tax, parking space, the location and at short notice in Corona times it was good. Only the shower situation could be improved. Thank you, you saved our vacation and turned a grueling time into a beautiful one.

Tested by chance and otherwise just passed by. Great courtyard with space for twin strollers. Friendly and flexible staff and excellent cuisine! One of our new favorite varieties!

Cozy city hotel very centrally located in the north of the city center. Stylish and with great attention to detail; wellbeing is very important here. Friendly staff takes care of all requests and questions we had, even fur noses are welcome here. But the prices are really fair for northern standards. The restaurant is also highly recommended! We'd love to come back.

Very good restaurant, nice staff and delicious food. The nice atmosphere enables both a quiet meal and a pleasant table chat with friends. The house aperitif is a real recommendation. Also a very good cappuccino at the end. If you are in the north, you should not miss a visit to the Smutje.

Went to eat there last night. Nice ambience, not loud, very nice and attentive service. The food was well prepared and delicious. Here attention is paid to the fact that one must disinfect one's hands before entering the location. Will definitely come back.

Bad reviews, especially about the service, are incomprehensible to us. The service staff are super friendly, have everything under control and even ask for the starter, whether you want to go straight to the main course or want to take a few minutes' break. We were there the day before, but without a reservation. We were very politely informed that there were no more tables available, but in the same breath they suggested a time when something was still available. Everything went great with a reservation. The hygiene concept is also clearly visible here. The tables including the decorations were disinfected after each guest. Class. We have already experienced something completely different on our vacation in the area. The food was really, really good. The fish was great fried and the Deichlammburger can only be recommended. We were blown away by the variety of starters. Small drawback: the portions are really too big. The starters are of such a great quality and taste that you don't need any Mozarella sticks. The burger was hard to cut without the fries tumbling off the plate. Service and food are great, you just don't need the bulk. The price level cannot be criticized, certainly also a question of what you are used to depending on the location. If you come from close to the metropolis, you do not understand the price level at Smutje as high. All around we had a really great and tasty evening! In terms of sustainability and in terms of food that is thrown away, the portion sizes could perhaps be reconsidered :) Whining at a high level: The hygiene buckets in the ladies' room are really inconvenient if you need a little more space for your legs;)

Very tastefully decorated restaurant. Nice service. Good food, slightly higher price level. Very kind to children. Dogs welcome. The homemade egg liqueur is recommended. Reservation is recommended.
